About Sterling Christian School
Sterling Christian was founded in 1978 by Dr. H.C. Hatton, pastor of The Church of the Nazarene. In 1991, the school board decided to become a non-denominational school thus moving from the church to the present location in Galt. The school currently has 101 students in grades Pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. These students come from fourteen different towns and twenty-seven different churches.
An association of parents and others with a vested interest in the school govern the school. A nine-member board is selected and approved by the association for the sole purpose of running the school affairs. Our school is dedicated to ""building a better world one student at a time".
The school year is 170 days of six hours and 45 minutes duration. There are seven periods in the day each 55 minutes in length. Lunch period is 25 minutes in length. The school year begins on the Monday before Labor Day and typically ends the last Friday in May. Conventional classroom instruction is offered at each grade level. Due to the size of our enrollment it is sometimes necessary to combine grades. Our current student-teacher ration is approximately 12 to 1.
