Specific Admissions Requirements
- Awareness of Sterling Christian School's Mission/Beliefs:
All prospective families are required to read SCS's Mission Statement and Statement of Faith and understand that these statements are the foundation of the school's curricula, policies, and educational philosophy.
- Lifestyle/Family Values:
It is the mission of the Sterling Christian School to provide the Christian family with Christ-centered educational experiences, emphasizing the development of Christian character, educational excellence, and preparation for a life time of service to God and man. Therefore, SCS seeks to enroll students whose family values and lifestyle practices are consistent with the school's mission statement, Statement of Faith, and conservative, ethical and lifestyle expectations. Therefore, SCS requires that school parents annually sign an agreement to have their children taught according to SCS's value system, Statement of Faith, and philosophy of education.
- Student's Attitude and Cooperation Requirement:
All students, whether they are from Christian or non-Christian homes, are required to conform to and maintain positive, cooperative, non-antagonistic attitudes toward SCS's biblical teachings, values, and lifestyle requirements. The school reserves the right to dismiss or not re-enroll students who are antagonistic in these areas or who seek to propagate other theological systems or lifestyles.
- Immunization and Physicals:
All entering students must provide proof that they have received all required immunizations. In addition, state law requires that children entering preschool, kindergarten, fifth, sixth, and ninth grade have physicals. We must also have proof of immunization to Hepatitis B. See kindergarten entrance requirements for additional specifics. Documentation of the required immunizations and physical exams must be submitted to the office prior to the first day of classes or the student will be removed from class until full documentation is received.
- Family Interviews:
All new students and their parents are required to be interviewed by either the Administrator, Admissions Committee, and/or School Board.
- Entrance Testing/Screening:
All prospective students, kindergarten through twelfth grades, are given entrance tests to determine grade placement and to determine if the school will be able to meet the academic needs of the student.
