Student Council
Mission Statement
The SCS student council exists for the purpose of serving our student body, school, and community through planned activities designed to give us the opportunities to be servants for God's glory.
Purpose
Our second function is to organize the social events for our High School careers.
Student Council Advisor
The advisor must be approved by the School Board of Directors prior to engaging in activities in the club. The advisor must sign an authorization form to authorize a background check.
- The advisor must sign the statement of faith.
- The advisor must submit plans for the year for approval by the board.
- Will schedule and make plans for fund raising activities if needed.
Responsibilities of the student council advisor are:
- Schedule meetings and notify the school office and organization members of said meetings.
- Oversee event in co-ordination with board and student executive council
- Monitor the student's behavior at all student council functions and events.
- Bring any disciplinary issues to the attention of the appropriate school official and school board.
- The advisor will oversee the financial affairs of the council.
Student Council Advisor Authority
The advisor has authority to initiate disciplinary action for minor infractions at student council events and function. All disciplinary actions taken will be brought to the school board.
As much as possible, discipline issues should be addressed at the time of the infraction. Further action deemed necessary would be in conjunction with the principal and school board.
When an inappropriate behavior, dress code, or other rule violation occurs at the event, it will be dealt with by the advisor and with a board member present with the final decision in the hands of the board member present.
Student Council Representatives
The student council will have the following elected members: a president, a first and second vice-president, secretary, treasurer, a historian, and 2 board representatives.
The student council shall be open to the entire High School student body with elections to be held the first month of the school for the Executive officers.
The requirements for the executive officer are:
- the president will be an upperclassman
- the first vice-president will be an upperclassman
- the second vice-president will be an underclassman
- the secretary and the treasurer can be from any class
- the two board representatives will be one from the upper classes and one from the underclasses.
- the historian can be from any class and is the representative to yearbook.
Student Council Responsibilities
The following events are the responsibility of the student council. Additions to this list must be approved by the board of directors:
- Harvest Bash
- Homecoming
- Spring Fling
- Prom
- 2 or more Community Service activities
- 2 or more service projects per year (this could be such things as decorating the gym for graduation)
- Fund raising as deemed necessary
